The Adult Education Programs are based on the belief that every adult, regardless of age, is entitled to a basic education. The following programs are available to give adults a second chance to further their education: Adult Basic Education | GED Testing |

Who can attend?
The Adult Education Programs are open to anyone who is 17 or older.
What does it cost?
There is no cost for instruction and/or materials. The Adult Education Programs are sponsored by the Abilene Independent School District and are supported by state and federal funds.
How do I register for GED classes?
Call (325)-671-4419 to sign up for a two day orientation. Attendance is required on both days to complete the registration process.
How do I register for ESL and Literacy classes?
Call (325)-671-4419 for class times and locations. No orientation is required.

What are the GED Official Practice Tests?
The GED Official Practice Tests (OPT) are similar to the actual GED tests in content, difficulty and format. The results are used to determine what specific skills, if any, individuals need to strengthen to be able to pass the GED. The practice testing is free to adults 17 years of age or older who do not have a high school diploma, and are not currently enrolled in a high school program. GED Testing – (This could be a separate link)
The GED Testing Center is located at Alta Vista, 1929 South 11 th in Abilene, Texas. The tests are given by appointment on Tuesday and Wednesday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Night testing is offered twice a year. Call 671-4419 for additional information and/or for an appointment to register.

Required Pre-registration for GED
To pre-register for the GED, students must make an appointment by calling the Adult Education office at 671-4419. Approximately 90 minutes is needed to complete the pre-registration. Required paper work and documents must be presented at this time.
