HEALTH SCIENCE STUDENTS ADVANCE TO STATE
Twenty-eight students representing AISD earned berths to state competition at the Area 4 Health Occupations Students of American (HOSA) conference held Feb. 3-4 in El Paso.
Twelve individuals and four teams placed among the top three finishers in events that challenged the students on health science knowledge and skills. They advance to the state HOSA conference March 29-31 in San Antonio to attempt to qualify for nationals.
More than 80 students from Holland Medical High School, Abilene High and Cooper High attended the area conference in El Paso.
Sponsors for the group are Karen Cluck, Ali Holamon, Margaret Salisbury and Kim Turnbull of Holland Med High, Melissa McMillion of AHS and Ruth Rios of CHS.
In addition, delegates at the Area 4 conference elected Holland’s Diamond Lawson as secretary and Hector Stokes as historian for the 2012-13 school year.
In the results below, the first through third place advance to state. Fourth and fifth place finishers were recognized at closing ceremonies.
