The Adult Education Programs are based on the belief that every adult, regardless of age, is entitled to a basic education. The following programs are available to give adults a second chance to further their education:

Adult Basic Education

English as a Second Language (ESL)


Adult Secondary Education  (GED Classes)

United States Citizenship

Who can attend?
The Adult Education Programs are open to anyone who is 18 or older.

What does it cost?
There is no cost for instruction and/or materials for students enrolled in Adult Education classes. The Adult Education Programs are sponsored by the Abilene Independent School District and are supported by state and federal funds.

How do I register for GED classes?
Call  325.671.4419 to sign up for a two day orientation. Attendance is required on both days to complete the registration process.

We will have a new GED orientation   August 24 - 25  &   August 26 - 27 for AM classes; August 25 & 27 for PM Classes.

Classes are offered Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 11:30 PM; ESL Classes Tuesday through Friday 8:30 to 11:30 AM, Afternoon GED class is Tues. Wed. & Thurs 1:30 to 4:30.



Classes are on Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM  ESL and GED Classes are both offered in the evening.

Day and evening classes are also offered at other sites in Abilene.

The Adult Education Program currently provides classes in the following cities:

Albany, Ballinger, Breckenridge, Brownwood, Cisco, Coleman, Colorado City, Cross Plains, Deleon, Early, Hamlin, Snyder, Stamford and Sweetwater
