Gobble It Up! 

A Fun Song About Eating!

Summary

The animals in this book are hungry!  Join them on a journey to find food to gobble up!  This fun sing-along is a great way to learn about everyone’s favorite activity…eating!

 

 

 

Activities

 

1.   Language Arts

 

      A.   Activity      Rhyming

The teacher will use the pre-made rhyming worksheet to cut out rhyming words for the students.  The students will locate the words that rhyme and link them together using glue.  They should have 9 rhyming pairs when complete.

             TEKS:        LA/R – 1, 6

 

      B.  Activity       Venn Diagram

As a class, conduct basic research of a raccoon, panda, shark, and whale using World Book Online, Brittanica, or Enchanted Learning.  Then construct a venn diagram comparing either a raccoon and a panda or a whale and a shark.

             TEKS:        LA/R – 9, 10, 12

 

2.   Math

 

      A.   Activity      Comparing Animal Length

The children will research the length of the animals named in the book using World Book Online or Enchanted Learning.  They will then use yarn to lay out the length of the animals on the floor to visually compare which animals are the longest and the shortest.

             TEKS:        M – 7, 9, 10

 

3.   Science

 

      A.   Activity      Food Chain

Using Brain Pop Jr., search for animals under the science link.  There is a food chain link that has a game.  The students will click and drag to put the food chain in order.

      B.   Activity      Food Chain Booklet

The children will fold a piece of paper into 8 equal parts and turn it vertical.  Then they will cut the folds on the top layer only to make a lift-the-flap book.  On the front of the book they will draw four animals.  When you open the flaps, they will see what the animals eat.  They can write a sentence to go along with their pictures.  (Example:  A crocodile eats a duck.)

4.   Social Studies

 

      A.   Activity      Habitat

The students will sort animals based on their habitat.  The focus will be land or water. The students will make a t-chart and list animals that live in the land and water.  They can research these animals using World Book Online.  When they have finished their chart, they can choose one of the animals and draw that animal in its habitat using KidPix.

             TEKS:        SS – 5, 5B, 6

 

5.  Fine Arts

 

     A.    Activity      Habitat

The students will stand in a circle and pantomime the actions of the animals as the song plays.

  TEKS:         T – 2, 3, 4
