Gorgonzola: a Very Stinkysaurus By Margie Palatini Illustrated by Tim Bowers Summary Long ago Gorgonzola, the dinosaur, was a real serious stinker, until a bold little birdie showed him how to clean up his act. Activities 1. Language Arts Activity Read story to students to introduce unit on dinosaurs. Discuss with students the setting of the story and what the earth looked like then. Discuss who, what, where, why, and how questions over story. TEKS: Ask relevant questions, seek clarification, and locate facts and details about stories and other texts. Describe the plot (problem & solution) and retell a story’s beginning, middle, and end with attention to the sequence and setting. 2. Math A. Activity Find out how many cups/ gallons of water would fill a small bathtub. TEKS: The student is expected to compare and order two or more containers according to capacity (from holds the most to hold the least) 3. Science Activity Perform experiment to find objects that sink or float. Discuss personal hygiene. Refer to Science book for more information on dental and personal hygiene. Ask a dentist to come speak to students. TEKS: The student is expected to plan to conduct simple descriptive investigations. The student is expected to list ways health information can be used such as knowing how to brush teeth properly. 4. Social Studies A. Activity Investigate landforms of prehistoric time. TEKS: Identify and describe the physical characteristics of places such as landforms , bodies of water, natural resources, and weather.
