National Honor Society

What We Are About…..
The National Honor Society is the frontrunner of organizations and societies that promote appropriate recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, character, leadership, and service. College admissions officers often regard Honor Society membership as a valid indicator that the applicant will succeed at the post-secondary education level. The National Association of Secondary School Principals believes that the National Honor Society has made a positive difference in the lives of individuals and in the spirit of the community and school. The National Honor Society was founded in 1921.

Membership is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have an overall GPA of 92 or higher, have attended AHS for the previous two complete semesters, and pass the teacher recommendation and selection process. We have a formal fall induction for sophomores, juniors and seniors; and we have a spring induction for seniors only.
