Phil Blue became the Executive Director of Athletics for Abilene ISD on May 11, 2015.
A former assistant coach at Abilene High School, Blue returned to AISD after serving as the Executive Director of Athletics for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD for one year. He was also the Director of Athletics at Georgetown ISD from 2005-2014. Under his leadership, high schools from Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Georgetown ISD consistently finished in the top 10 of the UIL Lone Star Cup standings.
Blue has 26 years of athletic leadership experience as a Director of Athletics, Campus Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach. Blue’s first head coaching opportunity occurred when he was 24 years old and he served for 19 years as the Head Football Coach for the following schools: Georgetown High School, Farmersville High School, Mineral Wells High School, Quinlan Ford High School, Celeste High School, and Texas Christian Academy.
Blue graduated from Greenville High School in 1981 and later graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree while playing quarterback on the UTA Mavericks football team. Blue also received his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
Blue and his wife, Cinda, have four daughters: Lacy (AHS graduate) is an Art teacher at Lake Dallas High School and is married to Frank Almeida. Samantha is a lawyer working with the Taylor County District Attorney’s office, Rikki is a graduate of Texas Tech University, and Alyssa attends Hardin Simmons University. Coach Blue and Cinda also have two grandsons, Willie and Judson Almeida.
