Dr. Joseph Waldron

Joseph Waldron, Ed.D. joined Abilene ISD in January of 2019 to serve as Associate Superintendent of Human Resources then transitioned to Chief Financial Officer in November 2020.  Dr. Waldron’s responsibilities consist of oversight and direction for the Human Resources department including hiring, position control, staff wellness, professional learning relating to human resources, employee benefits, substitutes and more.

Dr. Waldron has served in education for more than 15 years beginning as a Biology teacher in Wichita Falls ISD and most recently serving as Superintendent of Schools for Morris Community High School District #101 in Morris, IL.  Although Waldron has transitioned to Abilene ISD from Illinois, he has served a majority of his educational career in the Texas public school system in various roles including assistant principal, principal, federal programs director, curriculum director and assistant superintendent.

Dr. Waldron received his bachelor’s degree from Olivet Nazarene University, his master’s in kinesiology from Midwestern State University, his master’s in educational administration from Governors State University and his doctorate from Lamar University in 2018.

Joseph is married to his best friend, Marijon, and they have one beautiful daughter named Ivy Mae.
