WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHAT SCHOOL DID YOU ATTEND? I was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and raised in Duluth with my nine other siblings. I went to a private school for elementary and entered the public arena in middle school. My dad was the editor of our newspaper there and was offered a job in, (of all places) Fort Worth, Texas! There I began a new journey as a sophomore. After graduating from Arlington Heights High School I took a trip to California to visit and ended up staying for 20 years. I attended Word of Faith Bible College for two years there, while working for Dr. Fred Ten Eyck in Newport Beach, CA. There I met and married my best friend and love of my life, George. We returned to Texas to visit Mom and Daddy in Abilene. George felt God was leading us to move here to raise our children in a place we felt provided a better environment for our family. I promptly told him that wasn’t God. I thought I heard Colorado or Yosemite!! Now we love Texas and it is our home. We consider ourselves blessed to live here .
TELLS US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY: My family is the best! As you know, I married my sweet Georgie and we have been married 42 years! We have three wonderful children – Sarah and Jacob, Luke and Shyanne and Anna and Evan. We have been blessed with five precious, perfect grandchildren – Bernadette, Benjamin, Lincoln, Jaxen and Anya. We have traveled much of the contiguous United States. We have seen most of our National Parks and this beautiful country as well as walked on the battlefields our forefathers did. Our faith in God has brought us through many trials as well as triumphs; He is the common thread or conduit that holds us all together! My kids will quote me as always saying, ”Nothing is impossible with God.” Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. He has truly blessed me with my family.
TELL US SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF: I have had various experiences in my life; some have been on a Harley! I married a Greek and had a big fat Greek wedding! The most interesting part of my life has been the people I have had the opportunity to know on this long and winding road we call life. Actually, I have many stories. A memorable or interesting event would be when my kids were young and I chased a bear out our camp in Colorado. For further details ask me! I have been able to experience different cultures and cuisines. Again, my most interesting experiences have always been with people and how we have impacted each other’s lives with wisdom and grace and hopefully our community and the world, one smile, touch or word of encouragement at a time. Hopefully we seek first to understand, then to be understood. Every day I remind myself of the Golden Rule, Speak life!!! It is interesting I give TMI all the time!! Thanks for reading mine.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB? There are countless, wonderful things about working in AISD, especially when our campuses are full of so many great students and colleagues and of course our fearless leaders. We have a community of great students and parents, as we synergize with a mutual purpose, helping each child to reach their full potential and become a productive member of not only our community but the world. The kiddos and families I have had the honor to meet and hopefully impact kiddos and families in a positive way. My co-workers compel me to rise above and proactively press on to achieve not only our goals but the goals of our students. To instill values and skills. As well as the tools that will give our students a win-win attitude they will apply to their futures. I would be remiss not mention our proactive leaders who take the helm daily and guide us along the way.
WHAT THE BOSS SAYS ABOUT HER: “Mrs. Moropoulos is a bright spot on our campus. She has been our Bowie music aide for several years but has recently taken on the role of our computer lab manager. She begins her day at Bowie by greeting students and parents with a smile as she crosses them to safety in our front drive, never complaining of the weather or the early hours. Her positive attitude and kind spirit are contagious, and it is evident that she sees the importance of forming meaningful relationships with students, parents and staff.
