MSgt Deos gets AFJROTC ready for inspection

Cooper High School TX-794 AFJROTC will undergo a rigorous Unit Evaluation (UE) inspection by Headquarters AFJROTC on October 18, 2018 to assess how well we perform the mission of AFJROTC.

MSgt Ronald Deos is working with the senior class, corps of cadets, administrators, counselors, and teachers ensuring the Cooper AFJROTC program is ready to show the inspector how good we are.

The UE occurs every three years. Cooper High School, AISD and our JROTC program is evaluated for compliance in eight areas from School and District responsibilities to instructor performance to how the Cadets manage and lead the Corps of Cadets. Cadet Operations and Unit Operations are the most important areas of the inspection. Cadets will be evaluated on how well they lead and “own” the corps, wear the AFJROTC uniform, perform drill and how well they manage day-to-day operations.

MSgt Deos has lead the JROTC program for 15 years. Cooper has a history of excellent performance having received “Exceeds Standards” the highest rating possible during each of the last four inspections.

The Mission of AFJROTC is to “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and Community” by teaching high school students the values of citizenship, service, responsibility and providing opportunities for student growth and development as our future leaders.

The Newest in Fashion Design: Newspaper

In Fashion Design class, the year starts off with team building activities, and this year we focused on recycle and redesign.

Teams were given complete freedom in creativity and design to complete the perfect dress. Supplies allowed included newspaper, tape, glue, ribbon, and glitter. One of the students in the group was required to fit into the dress and wear it in our runway show.

This year’s dresses were phenomenal! On the day of the show, students presented dresses to an audience of faculty and students. The winning dress, titled Authentic Curls, was a big hit with the audience. We look forward to another show this spring with a twist on supplies allowed. Stay tuned to our next upcoming Fashion Show.
