Ryan LomaxNAME: Ryan Lomax

DEPARTMENT: Technology Center

TITLE: Senior Systems Infrastructure Specialist

YEARS WITH AISD: 5 years

WHERE ARE YOU FROM? WHAT SCHOOL DID YOU ATTEND? I was born and raised in Abilene. I went to Valley View, Bowie, Madison and graduated from Cooper in 2006. After taking a 10-year break from college, I’ll be graduating in May with my Bachelor’s degree from McMurry.

TELLS US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY: I’ve been married eight years to my beautiful wife, Brittny, who teaches 5th grade at Ward Elementary. We have two sons, Kason (3rd grade) and Kade (Kindergarten) that both go to Ward as well. We have two mini dachshunds, a terrier and a cat named Binx.

TELL US SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF: I enjoy hunting, fishing, reading and being involved with my children’s sports teams.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF YOUR JOB? My job is extremely rewarding in that I can be faced with a situation or problem and be able to work with a great team to fix the issues we encounter. I love that every day is different than the last, and I usually learn something new on a daily basis. Walking the halls of my old schools and being able to help some of my past teachers and staff that I remember from being a student is an awesome feeling. I’m able to give back and support the district that encouraged my love of learning when I was growing up.

WHAT THE BOSS SAYS ABOUT HIM: “From network cabling to equipment in the ceiling and closets to district servers, Ryan Lomax is always in the know and applying his knowledge to keep Abilene ISD’s network communicating. Ryan’s proactive nature has allowed him to succeed by constantly learning, helping troubleshoot district technology glitches, and to “fix issues” before they become a problem to the district. There is no problem too big or too small for Ryan. He is always smiling and trying to make someone’s day by helping solve their technology issue.” – Cary Owens, Chief Technology Officer
