The National Hispanic Recognition Program has named Arriana Monsey, a senior at the Academy of Technology, Engineering, Math & Science, as one of the nation’s top Hispanic scholars in the Class of 2019.
Every year, the National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes about 5,000 of the 250,000 students who take the Pre-SAT exam as juniors. The honor does not include scholarship funds, but most colleges use the program to identify academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino students.
Monsey is active at both ATEMS and Cooper High School, where she is a member of the CHS marching band and varsity cross country team. At ATEMS, she participates in the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and has won a pair of awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing competition. Outside of her school activities, she has participated in mission work in the Philippines and worked as a freelance graphic designer.
Daughter of Lauren and Elwin Monsey Jr., Monsey states that her probable fields of study in college include computer science, and graphic and website design. She is considering attending the University of Texas-Dallas, Texas A&M University or Abilene Christian University.
