Eagles. Cougars. Firefighters. Police Officers. They’ll all come together for a great cause Saturday, Jan. 26, in the 2nd Annual Police-Fireman Tennis Match at Rose Park.

Abilene High Eagles tennis players will team up with members of the Abilene Police Department, and Cooper Cougars will partner with Abilene Fire Department personnel for the competition. The teams will play a series of doubles matches pairing teams of AHS-APD vs. CHS-AFD.

The action begins at 10 a.m.

Proceeds for the one-day exhibition will go to fight colon cancer and the event will honor Sharon Wartes, the longtime AISD tennis coach who died last summer after a courageous fight with colon cancer.

Admission is free. Funds will be collected from the sale of customized T-shirts and grilled hamburger meals. Donations are also welcome.
