A Bassetti Elementary School 5th grader is doing her part to take care of the Texas environment.

Vorevann Seng’s entry in the Take Care of Texas Kids Art Contest was judged the best in Region 3 by the Texas Commission of Environment Quality. A representative from the regional office of the commission will deliver Vorevann’s award, a Samsung tablet, to the campus this month.

The Take Care of Texas Kids Art Contest is a fun way for K-5 students to learn about protecting the environment. Students submit their artwork on how they help keep the air and water clean, conserve water and energy, and reduce waste.

Vorevonn’s drawing depicted three Texas residents displaying recyclable items with the slogan, “Take Care of Texas. It’s the Only One We’ve Got.” Her art teacher at Bassetti is Katrina Lemon.

Texas students submitted more than 5,200 unique pieces of artwork, including 533 from the Region 3 area that contains Abilene.
