Here at Adult Education, we have a new program for both adult learners in our program and the Abilene area at large. We are thrilled to share, every chance we get, our new Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) ramp program.

In late 2017, we contacted Patty Hanks Shelton School of Nursing (PHSSN), a consortium of McMurry and Hardin-Simmons universities. We established a partnership with this prestigious nursing school to provide adults with financial, educational and career opportunities.

Great for the community

We at Adult Education are constantly looking for ways to serve our community. Certified Nursing Assistants are in high demand, and with a certificate through PHSSN, the CNA has many employment choices within the Abilene area – some starting at up to $13 an hour, depending on experience and training.

Room to grow

A nursing assistant certificate is a pre-requisite for either LVN or RN training and therefore opens doors to higher wages and rewarding work. For adult learners who qualify for our services and complete our requirements, we will pay half their tuition ($450 of $900). This gives them a great way to start a satisfying, new career. So far, we have placed about three dozen students in the program, and we are making plans to assist them further as they move toward other goals.
