ABILENE – The Chick-Fil-A on Abilene’s north side and the Abilene Independent School District are teaming up over the last two weeks of August to try and help children and families in need.

Beginning Monday (Aug. 19) and carrying through the end of the month (Saturday, Aug. 31), anyone who enters the store at 1750 State Hwy. 351 with a donation of new (unopened) package of socks and / or underwear for school-age children will receive a free 8-count box of chicken nuggets or one original chicken sandwich. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

The clothing items will be given to the AISD store located in the One AISD Center building (241 Pine St.) and run by Darrin Cox, homeless liaison for the Abilene ISD. Cox encounters the homeless and needy families in the AISD each day and the clothing and school supply items donated to the AISD by citizens and businesses in Abilene are given free of charge to the families and children who are living in difficult circumstances.
