ABILENE – The Abilene ISD will host a Remote Learning Practice Day this week giving remote learners an opportunity to meet their teachers and prepare for the first day of remote instruction.

The practice day will be Thursday, Aug. 20, with the first day of instruction for both in-person and remote learners set for Monday, Aug. 24.

Using their devices and the internet, remote students in kindergarten through 12th grade will log in to Google Meet at their regularly scheduled campus start times: elementary at 7:50 a.m. and middle and high schools at 8:15 a.m.  Pre-K students will join Google Meet through Seesaw at the time that is being communicated to their parents by the Pre-K campus.

Middle and high school students will follow their individual schedules and log in to each class period throughout the day.  Elementary students will receive their remote learning schedules from their teachers when they log in at the beginning of the school day.

While in their remote classes, students will work with their teachers and fellow remote learners to familiarize themselves with the remote learning process.  Teachers will guide the remote learners as they submit a practice assignment through either Google Classroom (3rd through 12th) or Seesaw (Pre-K through 2nd) and will share with the students their remote learning classroom procedures, expectations, and schedule.
