AHS, CHS choirs combine to place 15 students in All-Region Mixed Choir

ABILENE – Abilene ISD choir students recently competed in the Texas Music Educators Association Region 6 Virtual Choir Auditions.

Abilene High School placed eleven students and Cooper High School placed four students in the All-Region Mixed Choir.

Those students by section were:

Abilene High:  Vicky Gao and Mira Savage (Soprano I); Mia Mirelez and Kylee Russell (Soprano II); Hope Arrazola, Molly Mercer, and Kassandra Pizarro (Alto I); Harrison Smith and Luke Tebow (Tenor II); and Jordan Mathis and Alan Mercer (Bass I).

Cooper:  Kyla Speights and Kadence Viel (Alto I); Trevor Cox and Kadence Viel (Tenor II).

In addition, Abilene High placed five students and Cooper placed two students in the All-Region Treble Choir.

Those students by section were:

Abilene High:  Leann Bailey (soprano I); Alex Dacanay and Olivia Horn (Soprano II); Jadyn Jones and Jasmine Vargas (Alto I).

Cooper:  Noa Moore and Julie Bewane (Soprano I).

The AHS choirs are under the direction of Wendy Weeks and Remel Derrick.  The CHS choirs are under the direction of Cara Naizer and Josh Westman.
