ABILENE – Six music students from Abilene High and Cooper were named to the Texas Music Educators’ Association (TMEA) all-state band and choir last weekend, marking the highest number of AISD students honored as all-state performers in the last 10 years.

Those honored from Abilene High were Hope Arrazola (Alto 1, mixed choir), Holly Mercer (Alto 1, treble choir), Kylee Russell (Soprano 2, treble choir), and Harrison Smith (Tenor 2, tenor-bass choir). One Cooper student was named to the all-state choir, and that was Trevor Cox (Tenor 2, tenor-bass choir).

The only band student in the AISD who earned all-state recognition was Cooper’s Edward Stefan, who earned Class 5A all-state band honors playing the contrabass clarinet.
