ABILENE – The Abilene ISD and the Abilene Education Foundation invite all AISD students, as well as students in the surrounding area, to The LIFT Thursday night for the 14th annual College and Technical School Fair. The fair will get started at 6 p.m. at the AISD’s new home to ATEMS and most of the district’s CTE programs.

Almost 50 colleges, universities and community organizations will be in attendance to talk to students and parents about their college of choice and ways to stay involved in the community. Some of the colleges and universities represented will be Abilene Christian University, Angelo State University, Baylor, Cisco College, Hardin-Simmons University, Houston Baptist University, Howard College, Howard Payne University, Huston-Tillotson University, Midland College, Midwestern State University, New Mexico Highland University, Sam Houston State University, South Plains College, Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Tech, Texas Wesleyan, Texas Woman’s. University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, University of North Texas, University of Texas, University of Texas-Dallas, University of Texas-San Antonio, Wayland Baptist University, West Texas A&M and Western Texas College.

Some of the community organizations that will be represented include the Abilene ISD, the Abilene Education Foundation, Community Foundation of Abilene and Communities in Schools.

Students are encouraged to register in advance at www.gotocollegefairs.com where they can create a profile with their contact information and interests. Upon completion, the website will generate a barcode for the student.  Rather than filling out a separate information card for each college, the student will provide the barcode to college reps, who will scan the barcode to collect pertinent student information, affording students and college representatives more face-to-face interaction time.
