Both Abilene High School and Cooper High School band students competed in the University Interscholastic League Region Solo and Ensemble competition on Feb. 19. AISD had students advance to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest which will be held in May.

STATE SOLO QUALIFIERS

Qualifying for the UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest by earning a first division rating on a Class 1 memorized solo were Abilene High School band students Karissa Ward (clarinet), Courtney Molina (alto saxophone), William Marshall (trumpet), Brooke Garduno (French horn), Lianna Pfrimmer (French horn), Gustavo Marquez (trombone), Tate Eller (keyboard percussion), Gabriel McCracken (keyboard percussion), Mattie Spaulding (keyboard percussion), Mallory Traylor (keyboard percussion), and Nathan Wilson (keyboard percussion).

Qualifying for the UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest by earning a first division rating on a Class 1 memorized solo were Cooper High School band students Tristan Tardiff (oboe), Jonathon Carranza (trumpet), Meredith Clancy (French horn), Aaron Reece (French horn), John David King (tuba), Ronald Alexander (keyboard percussion), Aaron Brokovich (keyboard percussion), Devonte Russell (keyboard percussion), and Wyatt Logan (keyboard percussion).

Wahome (French horn); Kierstyn Bell, Michael Escobedo, Maxwell Kidd, and Isaac Trinidad (tuba); and Mason Einkauf, Gabriel McCracken, Ben Neie, and Samuel Thomas (percussion).

Qualifying for the UIL Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest by earning a first division rating on a Class 1 ensemble were Cooper High School band students Jaime Herrera, Abigail Murray, Rylan Murray, and Eddie Stefan (clarinet); Owen Bailey, Meredith Clancy, Jessica Ovalle, Eddie Stefan, and Sebastian Tardiff (woodwind quintet), Jonathon Carranza, Emily Knight,  Mack Summers, and Lucas Vinson (trumpet); Derek Crespo, John David King, Emma Martinez, Aaron Reece, and Keke Thompson (brass quintet); Ronald Alexander, Haillie Brown, Kylie Cox, Bracken Foster, Michael Gonzalez, Michaela Huffman, Devonte Russell, Travis Walters, and Logan Wyatt (percussion ensemble); Aaron Brokovich, Kyle C ox, Kai Rosario, and Davian Sansom (percussion ensemble); and Micah Gonzalez, DeAngelo Johnson, Max Parker, and Ben Weems (percussion ensemble).

CLASS 1 SOLO – 1ST DIVISION RATING

Earning a first division rating on a Class 1 solo were Abilene High School band students Isaac Trinidad (bassoon), Sydney Spell (clarinet), Adrian Fowlkes (trumpet), and Maxwell Kidd (tuba).

Earning a first division rating on a Class 1 solo were Cooper High School band students Owen Bailey (oboe), Sebastian Tardiff (bassoon), Derek Crespo (trumpet), D.A. Crowell (French horn), Kayser Stotts (French horn), and Carson Herring.

CLASS 2 SOLO – 1ST DIVISION RATING

Earning a first division rating on a Class 2 solo were Abilene High School band Marty Miner (alto saxophone).

Earning a first division rating on a Class 2 solo were Cooper High School band students Micah. Gonzalez (keyboard percussion), and Davian Sansom (keyboard percussion).

CLASS 3 SOLO – 1ST DIVISION RATING

Earning a first division rating on a Class 1 solo were Abilene High School band student Adelina Molina (French horn).
