Abilene High School has been selected as a finalist for the Dave Campbellā€™s Texas Football Community Connection School of the Year award presented by Optimum, and you can help the Eagles by casting a vote.

Fifteen schools across Texas are competing for the crown. Standings will be provided weekly and the winning school at the end will receive a $2,500 donation.

In addition to the school award, an influential figure from each community is also celebrated for staying connected to their community year-round. Longtime Abilene resident and AHS athletic secretary, Melissa Cedillo, was recognized earlier this year for her service to the Abilene community on a special Zoom call and was presented with the Community Connector Award.

Voting for School of the Year is open now through Jan. 20 at www.texasfootball.com/optimum.
