Approximately 980 Abilene ISD seniors will walk the stage at Shotwell Stadium the last weekend of May as the district celebrates commencement ceremonies for Abilene High School, Cooper High School, and ATEMS.

Cooper’s seniors will collect their diplomas on Friday, May 26, in a ceremony beginning at 8 p.m. at Shotwell Stadium. The 62nd graduating class in school history will celebrate approximately 415 seniors. Gates for the Cooper ceremony will open at 6:30 p.m.

ATEMS and Abilene High will be spotlighted on Saturday, May 27, as each hosts commencement ceremonies. ATEMS will send its 11th graduating class (68 seniors) across the stage at 8:30 a.m. at Shotwell Stadium. At the same time, Abilene High will celebrate its 135th graduating class by handing out approximately 435 diplomas that evening at 8 p.m. Gates for each ceremony will also open 90 minutes before the scheduled start time.

As in the last two years at Shotwell – which has more than 15,000 seats available for the ceremony – no tickets will be required for entry, so students will be allowed to invite as many guests as they would like to have in attendance. The AISD will update its website and social media channels if inclement weather forces any changes to the schedule.

Because of the ongoing construction of the new press box on the west side of Shotwell Stadium, the west side parking lot will be closed due to construction equipment. In addition, seating will be limited on the west side, but the entire seating area on the east side of the stadium will be open to spectators.

The AISD will live stream all three graduation ceremonies at live.abileneisd.org and www.facebook.com/aisdlive.
