Hi everyone.  I am Debra McCracken.  I am the R.N. at Alcorta Elementary. I am an Abilene native and went all thru school here.  Go Eagles!  I have been with the district since 1998.  I have extensive experience with Emergency Nursing, Ob/Gyn Nursing and Public Health Nursing. I am married, have a daughter and son-in-law who are both attorneys in Abilene, and the sweetest Granddaughter in the world! During the school year, i will conduct hearing and vision screenings on all kinder, 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders as well as any students new to the district.  This is mandatory by law.  5th grade girls will have scoliosis screening.  Again, law mandated.  All students will have blood pressures, heights, and weights done during the year.  A Dental Class is given by a local dentist for our 2nd graders and 5th graders may participate in the Always Changing Health and Growth class given in the Spring.  I do a Health Tip Tuesday during the announcements on Tuesdays.  This is when i pass along helpful and fun health facts to the students and faculty. I want the children, families and staff to know i am always here for them and that I want to promote the best health possible. Please notify me of any health or medication changes for your student so i can document it appropriately.  The better informed i am, the better informed i can make the teachers which is important for your student's health care.  If your student receives shots/immunizations thru the year, please let me know.
