Third Grade

Great Happens in Third Grade

Third grade is a wonderful year of growth and an acceptance of responsibility.  Our reading curriculum moves from using basal readers to reading chapter or novel type books.  We use cursive handwriting.  In third grade we encourage students to look for math in everyday life and situations.  Students will build on their math skills by applying higher level thinking skills in problem solving.  They will learn multiplication facts through tens.  Science is a big hit in third grade because of the many hands on activities they will do.  Students will predict, analyze and draw conclusions.  Third grade highlights include: Safety City, Philharmonic, Planetarium, and art from the Grace Museum/Old Jail Art Center.  You will be amazed at how much your child grows and matures throughout this third grade adventure!
