Hello and welcome to 5th grade!  My name is Starla DeLaGarza and I am a 5th grade RLA teacher.  This is my 20th year teaching, and year 11 in 5th grade.  I have previously taught 4th, 6th & 7th grades as well.  When it comes to my career, I have always had a passion for learning.  I am big on building relationships with my students and strive to help them find success in their education.  I truly believe that teaching is a partnership and your child, and I will work together to reach their goals. On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Ruben DeLaGarza, Jr. for 18 years and we have two daughters, Yasmine, who is a senior at Abilene High School and plays volleyball, and Rheauna, who is a sophomore at Abilene High School and plays soccer.  As you can tell, we are a sports-loving family, and we stay extremely busy.  In our free time, we enjoy traveling, attending sporting events, shopping and just being with our family.
