Hello and welcome to 5th grade!  My name is Starla DeLaGarza and I am a 5th grade Reading/Writing teacher.  This will be my 19th year of teaching, but year 10 in 5th grade.  I have previously taught 4th, 6th & 7th grades as well.  When it comes to my career, I have always had a passion for learning.  I love to build relationships with my students and help them find success in their education.  I truly believe that teaching is a partnership and your child and I will work together to reach their goals. On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Ruben DeLaGarza, Jr. for 17 years and we have two daughters, Yasmine, who is a junior at Abilene High School and plays volleyball, and Rheauna, who is a freshman at Abilene High School and plays soccer, volleyball, basketball and power lifts.  As you can tell, we are a sports-loving family and stay extremely busy.  We enjoy traveling, shopping and being with family.
