First Grade
Welcome to
First Grade!
We believe that First Grade is a crucial year in a child’s life. During this year, we learn to put first things first. It is amazing to watch the transformations that occur with the First Grade year.
We will be using Balanced Literacy to help our students become independent readers. Students spend time doing one of five things: Reading to Self, Reading to Someone, Listening to Reading, Writing to Self and Word Work. Implementing these strategies helps students become accurate and fluent readers and writers!
At Bonham Elementary, we believe strongly that every student can succeed. We trust that students leaving First Grade will be ready and eager for the challenges that lie ahead.
