Counselor

Hello! My name is Jessalyn Woods and I serve as the school counselor at Bowie Elementary School. I am a proud product of Abilene ISD; I attended Taylor Elementary, Franklin Middle School, and graduated from Abilene High School. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Abilene Christian University, and my Master of Education degree from Angelo State University. I have taught Kindergarten and 4th Grade; I love teaching and working with children and their families. I look forward to a great year as a Bowie Bobcat!

My responsibilities as the school counselor include, but are not limited to:
– Providing a comprehensive developmental guidance program for all students
– Connecting students and their families with community resources
– Short term individual counseling for students needing social, emotional, or academic support
– Group counseling on specific topics such as building self-esteem, making and keeping friends,
conflict resolution, coping skills, and social skills
– Classroom guidance lessons
– 504 coordination
– STAAR Test coordination
