Nurse

I am Marla Bunnell, Clack Middle School’s registered nurse. This is my first year as a Cardinal and I couldn’t be more thrilled to care for your children. I graduated from Hardin Simmons University with my BSN in 2013 and have been working at Hendrick Medical Center ever since.

My office hours are 7:45-4:00.

Guidelines:

  • Fever (100.0 or higher)– Student must be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT fever reducing medications (Tylenol, ibuprofen, motrin, ect).
  • Vomiting— Student must be vomit free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of medication.
  • Diarrhea— Student must be diarrhea free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of medication.
  • Rash— Rash with itching and/or fever—free from rash, itching and fever for 24 hours AND I have a doctor’s note to return to school.
  • Eye infection– If student is diagnosed with “pink eye” (redness, itchy, crusty eyes with pus-like drainage) MUST be on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Strep throat– MUST be on antibiotics AND fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Medications—ALL medications must be stored in clinic with a signed parental form EACH YEAR for medication administration. They must be in original over the counter bottle or pharmacy bottle with pharmacy label. Herbal and dietary supplements are not permitted at school.

Screenings—The state of Texas mandates that ALL 7th graders will be screened for hearing and vision. 7th grade girls and 8th grade boys will be screened for scoliosis. Any abnormal findings will be reported to the parents.

I am looking forward to being your child’s school nurse.
