Infants and Toddlers

 

Infants and Toddlers ages two-weeks to three-years-old are served in the Early Head Start program:

Reading to babyEarly Head Start is a federally funded program providing early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income families with children ages birth-to-three, and pregnant women. The purpose of the program is to enhance children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development; to support parents’ efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and to help parents move toward self-sufficiency. The AISD Early Head Start program targets pregnant and parenting teens enrolled in the AISD. The program serves 132 infants and toddlers and 9 pregnant women. Federal funding is over $2,000,000 annually.
