Statue and Artist
Abilene artist and sculptor, Geoffrey Broderick, Associate Professor of Art at Abilene Christian University, created the Mockingbird Award sculpture. It is cast in bronze and mounted on a wood base.
The original foot tall sculpture and casting of the Mockingbird took place in October of 1995.
The first recipient was Janet Stevens for Coyote Steals the Blanket.
The current statue was cast in 2015, also stands a foot tall, and was awarded to Michael Ian Black for his book I’m Bored.
