Social Emotional Learning

HB 1026, 6-14-2019– Texas public schools are required to adopt a character education program that includes positive character traits.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING

All classes participate in lessons weekly. Behavior Liaisons do SEL lessons with small groups.

Leader in Me (K-5)

The Leader in Me is a whole school transformation process. It teachers 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.
Lighthouse School

Second Step (6-8)

Second Step Middle School is a first-of-its-kind social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that’s modern, web-based, and responsive to the needs of today’s students and educators.

It’s underpinned by the latest research in adolescent brain development and social psychology. The result is a program that doesn’t just help kids do better in school—it helps them do better in life.

Character Strong (9-12)

Our curricula and trainings are focused on fostering the Whole Child with vertically-aligned lessons that teach SEL and character, side-by-side.

  • SEL Competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision-Making
  • Character Development: Patience, Kindness, Honesty, Respect, Selflessness, Forgiveness, Commitment, Humility
