Craig Tennis Information
The athletic tennis class is designed for those students who have an interest for the game. Students should have good hand-eye coordination and some familiarity with tennis (although not required) along with a will to learn and develop tennis skills. We will focus on footwork, technique and developing match play. It is preferred that the student have their own racquet (but I have extras). The students also need to show up to class suited out with proper tennis clothes (shorts, t-shirt, sweats). During designated times during the year, mandatory practice for 7th grade will start at 7:30 in the morning for and continue through first period. For 8th grade, practice will be during 8th period and will continue until 4:30. The fall tennis season consists of 3 after school tennis tournaments. The Spring season will have 2 tournaments and 6 Team matches. Parents must provide transportation to all matches and tournaments.
The PE Tennis class is designed as a PE alternative for those that have an interest in tennis, need to get their PE credit but want something other than regular PE. Students will learn the fundamentals of tennis but at a much slower pace compared to the athletic tennis class. They do not compete in matches or tournaments outside of the class period. Students are required to suit out in proper athletic clothes for the class period.
