Hello from Kindergarten!

I am Debbie Hill.  My dad was an aerospace engineer and worked as a troubleshooter for the Apollo missions.  Needless to say, we went wherever he was needed so we moved around a lot.  I can understand and empathize when the families of my students move or come to Abilene in the middle of a school year.  My favorite place to live was St. Paul, Minnesota.  I love the wintry weather.

How did I get here?  Well, I went to Hardin Simmons University and married my husband after college.  We knew each other for 6 months and got married and… I stayed.  Mark is a wonderful, patient man who teaches resource at Abilene High School.  We have been married 34 years and he is still my knight in shining honor!  We have 4 children.  My oldest is 33 years old and my youngest is 16.  I can say I never knew how much God wanted me to learn as I raised my children and I am honored and blessed to be their mother!

I should have known I was going into teaching in elementary when I took home every extra paper the teacher was giving out.  I played school in the basement and created students that were sometimes very naughty. I stayed home with my older children and got my teaching certificate after my third son was born.

Teaching has been an amazing experience and I learn so much each year.  This is my 21st year of teaching.  God has placed me at Dyess to help kindergartners become great leaders, compassionate friends and a cheerleader of everyone!

2, 4, 6, 8   Who do we appreciate?  Everybody!
