Second Graders Aim High!

Second grade is an important and exciting year!  Children will learn to decode multisyllabic words and use a variety of reading strategies to build fluency and comprehension. Our students are also challenged to read chapter books and taking AR tests for points and incentives.

We will continue to use manipulatives in math as we explore concepts such as three-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. Children enjoy investigating science concepts using lab activities.  In social studies, we learn about geography, map skills, our community, state, and country.  Our students look forward to learning and going on several field trips.
