2021 “I Love America” 5th Grade program (click here to watch video)

Music at Dyess Elementary enjoys a rich tradition.  Our annual “I Love America” program proves to be a valuable teaching tool – helping to educate students about patriotism, devotion to country, and support of our military.  A parade is also part of this tradition with all students lining the parade route and enthusiastically waving American flags.  

Beginning in Kindergarten and continuing through fifth grade, students learn basic concepts of music such as rhythm and melody which instill a love for music in each child.  Kindergarten students present an annual “Nursery Rhyme Time” with each child in costume representing different Mother Goose characters.  This experience helps our students begin to polish their performance skills.

The Dyess music program also includes a celebration of Constitution Day with a recitation of the Preamble, memorized by all students. During Christmas, students participate in City Sidewalks and also sing at Hendrick Medical Center and local retirement homes.
