Williams, Gaye
I absolutely LOVE teaching reading. When something clicks, and a child lights up and begins to read, it is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world for me.
I am a teacher in the Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) program at Martinez Elementary. LLI is a program that helps students who need reading support in addition to what is being received in the classroom. There are 3 students in each group. These students work for 30 minutes daily on skills in all areas of reading literacy including fluency, comprehension, writing, and spelling.
I have lived in Abilene since 1976. I received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Abilene Christian University in 1980 and have over 30 years teaching experience, 21 years with AISD. I have taught at Alta Vista, Thomas, Long, and now Martinez Elementary. It’s a great school and I am blessed to be here.
