Matilda Jimenez

My name is Matilda Jimenez and I am honored to serve as Purcell Elementary principal. The elementary years are an important and critical time for our students.  I believe that when the school culture is positive, both students and staff can grow.  It is my goal as principal to provide the leadership that will facilitate this kind of school environment for our students, staff and families.  I work with an amazing staff and together we strive to equip our students in a way that will grow them academically, socially and emotionally.  Our hope is to build strong leaders for tomorrow. My educational experience includes 25 years as a classroom teacher.  I taught first grade for seven years, kindergarten for 5 years and then I looped between kindergarten and first grade for twelve years.  I also taught fourth grade for one year.  All of my classroom experience was a Johnston Elementary.  I left Johnston to become the Instructional Coordinator at Lee Elementary.  I also served as the Assistant Principal there and at Austin Elementary.  I am truly excited to be back home serving the community I hold dear in my heart. Thank you for entrusting Purcell Elementary to impact the lives of your precious children.  We value the partnerships we have with our parents and community.  It truly does take a village.  Please feel free to contact me if I can be of service to you. Let's make it a great year!
