RTI stands for Response To Intervention. It is a method of academic intervention used in the United States which is designed to provide early, effective assistance to children who might be having difficulty learning on grade level. The RTI method has been developed by proponents as an alternative to identifying learning disabilities. Every student placed on RTI has his/her own individualized learning program and path designed to keep track of growth and development of skills.
If your child is recommended to the RTI program, you will be asked to attend a meeting with your child’s teacher(s), the Instructional Coordinator, and any other teacher or staff member who will be working with your child on his/her individual instruction plan. Please make plans to attend this meeting. You know your child and we want your input on making the plan work to the best of our ability.
