Jeff Arrington was elected to the Abilene ISD Board of Trustees in 2016.
Arrington and his wife, Linda, have two sons, Paul and Mark. Both sons graduated from AISD schools, attending Taylor Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Abilene High. Paul and Mark graduated from Abilene Christian University. Paul majored in secondary social studies and is the AVID campus coordinator and social studies teacher at the early college high school in Tyler. Mark majored in finance and management and now lives with his wife, Chelsea, in Charlotte, NC and works at Bass Pro.
Jeff graduated from ACU in physics and then attended the University of Utah where he earned three graduate degrees, culminating in a Ph.D in electrical engineering. Jeff’s wife, Linda, is a nurse at Cooper High School. The Arringtons have lived in Abilene since 1989 when Jeff joined the physics faculty at ACU. Jeff currently serves as the Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences and Director of Engineering at ACU. Since starting at ACU he has served as associate dean, associate vice president for student life fors, and has been involved in four major building projects on campus. While in ACU’s Student Life division, he provided leadership to programs that address all elements of a student’s life outside the classroom. He has been actively involved in efforts to increase student persistence to graduation.
Arrington has fond memories of the six years he spent reading books in his sons’ classrooms as a volunteer reader. Jeff and Linda served as vice-president and president of the Taylor PTA, as volunteers for career day and science demonstrations at Franklin and served as the cookies and snack team for two different year-long AP classes at Abilene High. Jeff was on the AHS Band Booster Club board 2001-2009, serving as president from 2004-2006, vice president from 2002 – 2004, and interim treasurer from 2008 – 2009.
