AHS Creative Writing Students Win Awards

4 AHS Creative Writing Four Abilene High school students were recently honored for their creative writing prowess at a pair of writing contest.

The students are members of Seth Pace’s Creative Writing class who entered works in the Angelo State University Annual Writers Conference competition, which was open to high schools in a 25-county area, and a nationwide contest sponsored by the Abilene Writers Guild.

Marie Hutton won first place in Short Story at the Angelo State conference with her story “Fog.” Megan Wren’s piece “Savage Sea,” was judged as the second place entry in the Flash Fiction category in the Abilene Writers Guild Contest.

Two other AHS students earned Honorable Mention at the Abilene Writers Guild Contest — Paige Worrell’s “Imaginative Lobe” in Flash Fiction and Miller Devanney’s poem, “Sod,” in Unrhymed Poetry.
