Counselor

My name is Crissandra Roberts and I am proud to be the school counselor at Allie Ward Elementary.  I moved to Abilene to attend college and never left because I loved it so much!  I received a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree in Elementary Education and a Master of Education degree in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University.  I had the wonderful opportunity to student teach, be a student aide, and teach third grade at Ward before becoming the school counselor.  As the counselor of Ward Elementary, my desire is to ensure that all students in our school know they are cared for and are capable of overcoming challenges and meeting goals.  It is my desire for all of our students to be connected to people who will help them grow.  In addition to classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling and individual counseling, I am also the campus STAAR and 504 coordinator.  I look forward to working with all of our Ward Wildcats and their parents!

Ward Elementary Guidance and Counseling Mission Statement

The Ward Elementary Counseling Department will provide an effective comprehensive guidance and counseling program which meets the needs of all our students and motivates them to become lifelong learners, leaders, and responsible and productive citizens.

Purpose

Together, with our school community, we will promote students’ personal, social and academic growth through the implementation of classroom guidance lessons, group counseling and individual counseling.  Our students will show growth in their knowledge of intrapersonal effectiveness, interpersonal effectiveness, post-secondary education/career- readiness, and personal health and safety.  We will collaborate with school staff and parents to advocate for the best interests of our students.
