Abilene ISD announced Thursday that Kandice Williams has been named head coach for the Cooper High School volleyball program.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kandice Williams to Cooper High School,” Principal Jon Patrick said. “With a proven track record of playoff success and a deep passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court, she brings the kind of leadership, heart, and vision that will elevate our program to new heights.”
Williams brings over a decade of coaching experience to Cooper High School, most recently serving as a coach for Gold Medal Squared, an elite volleyball training program known for its high-level camps, clinics, and coaching development. In that role, she supported the Lubbock Coronado High School volleyball team in advancing to the bi-district playoffs. Her coaching and teaching career has included roles in Plainview ISD, West Orange ISD, and Plemons-Stinnett-Phillips CISD. In 2020, she led the PSPCISD volleyball team to their first playoff appearance in 20 years.
“I am honored and blessed to accept the head volleyball coach position at Cooper High School,” Williams said. “Coaching is more than just winning games. It’s about developing character, building strong team culture, and helping young athletes grow both on and off the court. I’m committed to building a program where these athletes have the chance to reach their full potential.”
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Wayland Baptist University, where she also earned a special education certification.
