Abilene ISD announced Wednesday that Amanda Seymour has been selected to lead Cooper High School’s choir as the program’s new director. Seymour brings more than a decade of experience in vocal music education and a strong record of growing student-centered programs to Cooper.

“We’re excited to welcome Amanda Seymour to Cooper High School,” Principal Jon Patrick said. “Her track record of leading musical excellence and promoting student success is impressive, but what truly sets her apart is her passion for creating an inspiring environment where students thrive. Her focus on leadership, connection, and high standards makes her a perfect fit for CHS.”

Seymour joins Abilene ISD from Brenham ISD, where she served as head choir director for seven years. In that role, she expanded the choir program from featuring one competition ensemble to six and led student musicians to repeated success at the state level. For seven consecutive years, students under her direction were selected for both the Texas All-State and Region 27 Choirs and two students were named Outstanding Performers at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Additionally, Seymour’s choirs earned multiple sweepstakes honors at the UIL Concert and Sightreading competition.

“I am honored and thrilled to join the Cooper High School family,” Seymour said. “The tradition of excellence in Abilene ISD is inspiring, and I look forward to building strong connections with students and the community while continuing to grow a program that celebrates artistry, collaboration, and heart.”

Seymour holds a bachelor’s degree in vocal music education and a teaching certificate from West Texas A&M University. A National Board Certification candidate, Seymour is also an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
