AP Honor Roll Platinum Abilene ISD ATEMS Phoenix

Abilene ISD is proud to share that the Academy of Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (ATEMS) has been named to the 2025 Advanced Placement® Program (AP®) School Honor Roll, earning the highest possible recognition of Platinum distinction.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that work to broaden participation in AP courses  and support students on their path to college success. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

“ATEMS teachers and staff do an incredible job supporting students through rigorous AP classes, and our students put in the effort every day to challenge themselves and grow,” Superintendent Dr. John Kuhn said. “Seeing that work recognized at the national level is exciting for our entire community.”

In 2025, 80% of ATEMS seniors took at least one AP Exam during high school, 66% of seniors scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam, and 15% of seniors took five or more AP exams.

“This recognition is a result of an intentional effort by our staff and students to lean into the benefits of AP instruction,” ATEMS Principal Brandon Randell said. “I am incredibly proud of our campus and the growth in AISD.”

Research shows that students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. ATEMS offers a variety of AP courses, including in mathematics, history, science, language arts, and more.

Applications are now open for students who are interested in attending ATEMS for the 2026-27 school year.
