Abilene ISD paused Tuesday evening to celebrate the people whose years of service have helped shape the district’s story.

During the 2025–26 Service Awards & Retiree Celebration, employees, retirees, family members, and friends gathered to honor those who have dedicated years, and in many cases, decades, to serving Abilene ISD. The event recognized employees reaching service milestones from 15 to 35 years, along with this year’s retiring employees, whose collective impact reaches across classrooms, campuses, departments, and generations of learners.

The evening was both joyful and heartfelt. As names were called and honorees made their way across the stage, each recognition carried with it years of commitment, relationships, and quiet daily work that has helped move the district forward. Following the program, guests enjoyed time together over food and desserts, sharing stories and celebrating the careers and contributions of those recognized.

One of the most meaningful moments of the night came at the close of the retiree recognition, when this year’s retirees took part in a special AISD tradition: ringing the bell. Each retiree received a custom AISD bell and had the chance to ring it as a symbolic close to their years of service and the beginning of a new chapter ahead.

Abilene ISD is grateful for the employees who have devoted their time and hearts to this district. Their service has left a lasting mark on campuses and in the lives of students, and the district was proud to celebrate them.
