The Clack Middle School Symphonic Band has advanced to the state semi-finals of the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band competition after a strong showing at the Area A Honor Band Contest.
At the Area level, Clack competed against bands from across the region, including programs from Amarillo, Canyon, Lubbock, and Abilene. For the contest, bands submit live recordings of three UIL concert selections, which are then evaluated by a panel of judges through the Region, Area, and State rounds.
Clack advanced based on its performance of Crown of Castile by Johnnie Vinson, Looking Up by Robert Sheldon, and Dominion by Randall Standridge.
The band’s recordings will now be evaluated at the state semi-finals in mid-July, where Clack will compete against some of the top 2C middle school bands from across Texas. The winner of the State Honor Band title earns the opportunity to perform at the following year’s TMEA Convention in San Antonio.
Congratulations to the Clack Middle School Symphonic Band students and directors on this outstanding achievement!
