Abilene ISD is forming a Long-Range Facility Planning Committee to evaluate the district’s current and future facility needs and develop recommendations for the Board of Trustees. The committee will consider how facilities can best support educational programs, student opportunities, and the district’s long-term priorities. Five at-large seats are available for interested family, community, or staff members.
Interested applicants must submit their online application by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 10. To apply, fill out and submit this Long-Range Facility Planning Committee Application.
Committee Purpose and Expectations
The Abilene ISD Board of Trustees approved the framework for LRFPC membership during its August 10 meeting. The 75-member advisory committee will include a cross-section of local citizens, students, parents, and school employees, with representatives from each campus. Individuals who have already been invited to represent a campus and/or appointed by a Trustee or district administrator need not apply for an at-large seat.
The committee will meet monthly on Tuesdays from 6–8 p.m. during the 2026-27 school year, beginning Sept. 22. Their work will include a review of:
Academics
Student Programs
Safety and Security
Technology
Transportation
Capital Improvements
Filling out an application does not guarantee selection as a committee member. AISD reserves the right to make all final decisions on the size and makeup of the LRFPC to ensure a balanced membership across all schools and the community.
