Abilene ISD is pleased to announce that Lisa Macias has been named the next head coach for the Abilene High School girls basketball program. She currently serves as a coach and teacher for Mann STEAM Academy, a position she has held since 2012.
“Coach Macias is a great fit to be the next leader for our girls basketball program,” said Abilene High Principal Emme Siburt. “I look forward to supporting her as she helps our student-athletes grow and succeed.”
Macias brings strong coaching and teaching experience to Abilene High, including a proven ability to motivate students and teams for effective performance. She began her coaching journey as a volleyball and basketball coach in Leakey ISD and served as a coach and teacher in Clyde ISD before joining the team at Mann. Prior to becoming a coach, Macias also served as an Early Head Start teacher and resource coordinator at AISD’s Crockett and Woodson campuses from 2002 to 2009.
“I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to step into a head basketball coaching role,” Macias said. “Connecting with our athletes and helping guide the program to the next level is something I’m truly passionate about, both for the success of the team and the growth of each player.”
Macias earned a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science with an emphasis on sports and fitness from Hardin-Simmons University.
